January – MGA Legislative & Food PAC Fundraising Event

This informative evening dinner event promises to educate attendees about critical legislative issues in our industry by bringing in topical speakers and providing opportunities for dialogue.

May/June – MGA Foundation Golf Event and Scholarship Fundraiser

Vendors and retailers team up to enjoy a great round of golf at the first industry tournament of the season.  The event is a collaboration between the MGA Foundation and the MGA Vendor Leadership Committee.  All proceeds support the MGAF’s scholarship program, which is designed to develop careers in the retail food industry.

July/August – MGA Annual Convention

An energetic three-day event where attendees come together with peers and customers to have relevant face-time.  This one-of-a-kind event gives all participants – vendors and retailers – a valuable way to learn from each other, network and socialize.  An exceptional mix of educational programs and family fun make this the industry’s premier, not-to-be-missed event!

August – MGA Best Bagger Contest

A dynamic fast-paced competition where grocery baggers from around the state show off their bagging skills to be Minnesota’s best. The winner will represent the state at the National competition in Las Vegas. This contest is important to the MGA and its membership because it showcases the talents of one of our key employees.  The bagger is the person responsible for the last experience customers have at our stores.  They truly represent customer service.

October/November – Bag Hunger Campaign

The MGA’s Bag Hunger Campaign is an extremely unique program as it promotes sponsors’ products and retail sales while producing tangible results for the communities we serve. Retailers and vendors partner together to create point of sales displays engaging consumers in the fight to end hunger in Minnesota. An aggressive ad campaign and multiple press releases help convey the program to consumers and encourage them to shop at a participating grocer, purchase products and donate to their local food charity. The coveted “Silver Plate” Display Contest raises the stakes and encourages an added level of excitement for vendors, retailers, and consumers.
