MGA 125 Year Anniversary

Celebrating industry

St. Paul, MN, July 29, 2022 – The Minnesota Grocers Association (MGA) is celebrating its 125 year anniversary. The association, formed in 1897, is incredibly proud of its years of serving, leading, and advancing the food industry of Minnesota. We are so pleased to announce Governor Walz, in an acknowledgment of our historic work, has proclaimed the week of July 31 – August 2, 2022, as Minnesota Grocers Association 125th Anniversary Week in Minnesota – see Proclamation attached.

“Minnesota has a unique culture of hundreds of main street hometown grocers and convenience stores, many of which are independent, multi-generational, and locally-owned,” reads the proclamation issued by Governor Walz. “The grocery industry acts as the cornerstone of the communities it serves by donating thousands of hours in volunteer service and millions of dollars in food to local causes and charities, all while providing safe and nutritious food to all Minnesotans.”

“The MGA is proud of its role as a legacy organization, having served the industry for over a century. We work hard to further the priorities of the food industry in Minnesota and to support those companies doing business in our great state.” said Jamie Pfuhl, MGA President. “The historic value of having industry-specific representation is critically important. Our incredibly committed and engaged membership is the foundation for our decades of success.”

The MGA will be honoring this historic milestone at its 2022 Annual Conference in early August. The conference will be attended by over 350 grocers and vendors from all across the state at this three-day event
